How Swiggy Was Built?" – A Design Thinking Journey
At Red & White Multimedia Education, we believe in equipping our students with industry insights and practical skills that inspire innovation. Recently, we organized an engaging and interactive session titled "How Was Swiggy Built?", exclusively for our UI/UX and Graphic Designing students.
The session was conducted by our Subject Matter Expert (SME), RWn. Mohit Savaliya, and focused on how Swiggy became one of India’s most successful startups by using design thinking, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial strategies.
Unveiling Swiggy’s Inspiring Journey
Swiggy’s success story, starting from scratch in 2014 to becoming a ₹95,000 crore enterprise, was a perfect case study for our students. The founders—Nandan Reddy, Rahul Jaimini, and Sriharsha Majety—began with a simple goal: solving the problem of quick and reliable food delivery. Today, Swiggy serves 15 lakh deliveries daily and operates in over 1,000 cities, a testament to their vision and perseverance.
Our students gained insights into Swiggy’s milestones:
- 2014: Launched in Bengaluru with one city and a simple idea.
- 2017: Expanded to 10+ cities with innovations like faster delivery and better app design.
- 2020: Introduced new services like Instamart and Genie, revolutionizing convenience.
- 2024: Became a publicly listed company, setting a benchmark in the startup ecosystem.
Learning Key Skills from Swiggy’s Journey
The session highlighted three essential skills every creative professional should master:
- Problem-Solving: Identifying challenges and brainstorming innovative solutions.
- Design Thinking: Focusing on the user needs to create impactful designs.
- Entrepreneurship: Building and scaling ideas into sustainable ventures.
To reinforce these concepts, students actively participated in activities like:
- Identifying daily pain points and proposing solutions.
- Exploring ways to enhance customer experiences through design.
- Collaborating in groups to innovate solutions for common problems.
